Next Level 300 Series Lesson #3

Thank you for attending Lesson 3 of our 12 week Training Series! Please note that lessons do not have to be taken in numerical order. You are welcome to start anytime during the 2 month rotation.
Here are your notes and homework from class. Keep practicing to solidify all you learned.

Dink Mechanic

  • Soft hand, Soft stable wrist, Soft body

  • Contact point out in front- about 12″ in front of your toes

  • Laid back wrist

  • Don’t take paddle back past your body

  • Slow smooth swing tempo consistent speed all the way through the shot

  • Guide the ball don’t strike the ball


Coneheads Drill

  • Set up cones 1 foot inside the NVZ and about 1 ft on either side of players stance. Place a ball on top of each cone as a target.

  • Part 1- Toss and Dink out of the Air

    • 1 player tosses a ball at the cones and their partner has to take ball out of the air and dink it softly back into the NVZ

  • Part 2 – Targeted dinking and Cone protection

    • Player 1 starts dinking straight on trying to dink and knock the ball off of Player 2’s cones.  

    • Timed rounds then rotate


Dinking Grinder Drill

  • Dinking  with Partner – Players try to keep the ball going as long as possible without making an error.

  • Variations

    • forehands only

    • backhands only

    • straight on

    • cross court
