Rescue Dink

  • This dink gets you out of trouble when you are pulled out of position

    • Most commonly the shot that has pulled you out really wide at the NVZ

    • Too many players want to swing at this ball

    • We need to Rescue dink this to keep our team in the point

  • Put on the breaks and breathe! EXHALE

  • Slow swing – it will feel like slow motion

  • Smart placement

    • If the ball gets behind you – down the line but not too close bc of Erne

    • Aiming for mid kitchen in front of the person directly across from you is a great spot

Net Taps Drill

  • Players stand across the net from each other at the NVZ.

  • Players hit a shallow lift dink then touch the net with their paddle

  • Player must back up and take dink off the bounce after their partner hits a lift dink and then touches the net.

Dinking Accuracy

  • Forehands- push your thumbs towards your target

  • Backhands- push your knuckles towards your target

  • Follow through pointing your paddle, hips, toes and shoulders at your target

  • The finish of every shot is the beginning of the next shot

Side to Side Dink Drill

  • Players stand straight on to each other

  • 1 Player is just hitting back to partner’s feet focusing on accuracy and consistency

  • 1 Player is alternating targeting backhand and forehand with each shot focusing on accuracy and consistency

  • 2 min round then switch roles

Paddle Face Watching

  • Watching your opponents paddle face tells you more than just watching the ball

  • As you opponent is prepping to hit- pay attention to the angle of the paddle face
