Swing Volley Mechanic

Soft hand, soft stable wrist, soft body

Swing forward and up

Lay back your wrist and brush up the back of the ball

Contact Point in front – no backswing behind the body

Allow weight to flow- don’t let legs get locked down

Prep Pause Swing
Swing Volley/Overhead Gasser Drill

1 player at NVZ off towards sideline – Hitting Player

Feeder at T of NVZ
-
Feeder tosses 1 swing volley and then a lob for an overhead
-
Hitter practices loading forward and through the swing volley on their way up to the NVZ after the overhead
-
Go until baskets are empty and switch roles
Flick Speed Up Mechanic

Laid back wrist
-
Approach like a dink
-
Accelerate through contact with flick of the wrist

Follow through out in front and pointing where you have hit the ball

Wait for the right ball
-
Be balanced and in position
-
Ball out in front and the right height
-
Block/Reset Mechanic

Soft Hand and body
-
No sharp angles or straight lines

Contact out in front

Weight forward and fluid

Don’t Chop or Go out to meet the ball – just hold and let it hit your paddle
Skinny Singles Dinking Drill

Players stand at NVZ straight on

Engage in game play focusing on dinking, speed ups, swing volleys and blocks

Possession Scoring- play game to 11 win by 2
